Name of Shop: Is Cahaya

  1. What kind of business do you have? What inspire you to become an entrepreneur?

I’m selling malay clothes,accessories and head scarfs. I wanted to try in this business line so as to earn extra income.

  1. Did you need to have a certain mindset to achieve success?

Yes. Of course we need to have a certain mindset to achieve success. It depends on individual mindsets on business.

  1. Have you notice a certain advantages to being an entrepreneur?

Yes,there is,but there’s not a lot of advantages. Because to me, being an entrepreneur, means I am the boss and at the same time I am the worker. Therefore, I have to find all the products myself.

  1. Is it difficult to get financing for businesses? If so, why and are there any solutions?

Yes,i have in terms of replacing the money that we invest on our products with the purchase of customers.

  1. Did you have a mentor to help you get started?

Not really a mentor but my own daughter is helping me to get all the clothes. We get our products from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. There is also my friend from India who supplies me with the head scarfs.

  1. Approximately how much money did you invest before your business became profitable?

Quite a lot but since my shop is small, I don’t really require a lot of money to invest in this business.

  1. What resources were most helpful to you when you were starting your business?

My friend from India as I stated earlier to supply me the head scarfs.

  1. What ways have you found to be most effective in marketing your product or service to get sales?

We published our shop in the newspaper and through the internet. Apart from that, our regular customers’ word of mouth will lead to an increase in our daily sales.

  1. What tips can you give others who want to embrace their dream but, don’t have the confidence or feel they don’t have what it takes to succeed?

Firstly, do not be afraid to give it a try. If you never try, you’ll never know the outcome.

  1. How do you manage juggling the responsibilities of being an entrepreneur?

I have to be more focus in terms of my daily sales profit, and think of different ways to increase my sales.

  1. What’s next for you?

If God’s willing, I would like to expand my business maybe outside of Singapore.
